City Breaks In Liverpool

By Angus Morrison

Liverpool is a vibrant city in England's north west. The city lays claim to a great many world "firsts". The most broadly known of these firsts is that the citywas the site of the first commercial wet dock. The Liverpool docks were, at the start of the 1900's, the busiest on the planet accounting for the handling of about 40% of world trade. With such plentiful wealth it is unsurprising that the city has some of the most stunning galleries and museums in Great Britain, with only one other city in England having more, London. In the article below I introduce some of the various other reasons why the city such an exciting city break destination.

Many folk assume that the city lacks any castles, country homes, fortified houses and historical buildings and even though Liverpool Castle has long since gone the city of Liverpool is home to a few buildings which are unbeatable.

The Beatles

The Beatles, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison & Ringo Starr, are one of the most successful and critically acclaimed acts in pop music the world has ever seen. The Band came from Liverpool and you are able to visit the homes in which they were brought up by going on one of the tours. Of course there are much more Beatles associated visitor attractions such as; The Beatles Shop, The Cavern Club, Mathew Street Gallery and The Beatles Story, plus a handful of pubs (The Jacaranda in Slater Street, Ye Cracke in Rice Street and The Grapes in Mathew Street) and an incredible number of places mentioned in their songs such as Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields.

Every Beatles fan will be thrilled to learn that it is possible to enjoy Liverpool bed and breakfast in a Beatles themed hotel.

Other Liverpool Places To Visit

To be one hundred percent truthful the list of attractions in Liverpool is simply so enormous that there is not enough space here to list all of them. Some of the popular include The Albert Dock, Speke Hall and The Merseyside Maritime Museum and Knowsley Safari Park, Liverpool's two Cathedrals and The Tate Liverpool as well as much, much more.

Besides all of the local attractions described above Liverpool has long association with comedians. The list of comedians coming from the city is absolutely huge but some of the most well known include Alexei Sayle, Craig Charles and Kenny Everett, older readers might recall Faith Brown, Stan Boardman and Arthur Askey or Ken Dodd, Les Dennis and Jimmy Tarbuck. So whenever you are next in the city of Liverpool make sure that your bed and breakfast in Liverpool is in a Beatles themed hotel and that you visit a comedy club.

If if you don't like this idea maybe you should think about attending a soccer match? Liverpool Proudly has 2 superb football clubs (Everton F. C. and Liverpool F. C. both having has incredible success. Their grounds are located at Anfield and Goodison.

But I know what you are probably thinking for now. You think it is not secure to download in sites because it is free? I tell you its not. In fact, some people would love to deal with this hobby just so because they also wanted to have the significant advantage of movie downloads doing it for free. Oh common, why would you bother to pay if you can actually download your favorite movie online? Yes it is surely addictive and fun.

File network sharing P2P is the first place to search for its availability. Many do prefer this after their first experience because it is far easier than the rest. Imagine sharing files with other people basically. That is how this process goes. Its way is clever and the benefits begin as you access the files from other computers with allotted area for downloading. Upon seeing it, you can download from there too.

Another one is to forums. This is also better since you go for safe files. Take note that not all of the peer to peer file sharing is considered legal. So it is a smarter decision to look for forums with these movie sharing.

Third popular option nowadays is the authoritative download. They comes from sites which assures legality in file transfer. Also, it is much safer like the two first mentioned. You can be certain here also that it is in full length movie downloads with DVD quality. As such, it is more reliable.

Related news appears now from a company based in sterling in connection to the agreement with the studios in Hollywood. Both made an agreement for the management of the database for exposure to piracy when they do the delivery for their customer. It includes the variety of contents and devices. It tends to leave something to the site for tracking upon the download so firsthand the question of legality appears.

Yet, there are various ways for downloading that even counted not only movies but software and music too. Trojan horses, threats, viruses and spywares are the malicious scripts that may cause problems to your computers. Being aware to these possibilities will possibly avoid threats to come in.

Or perhaps it will be better to have your own choice of video and audio codecs to be installed particularly in your system. Example in order for you to do the movie downloads you need to have that in right format like in . Avi files. Bear in mind that the length of how long you download the movie depends to the internet connection too.

Italy: Oh My Gawd!

By Antonio Cremenesi

I have traveled through Italy many, many times and I have always loved it. This country is so different than where I come from and people have a lot more spirit in them. Whether you travel to the capital, Rome, or to the northern part (Milano, Modena and Turin), it is always a pleasure to watch the beauty of the country. Venice is one of my favorite places, but I also love Pisa and Verona.

I have seen Italy from North to South and from East to West. I tasted the Italian cuisine with all the papillas in my mouth and I simply can't get enough of it. Why would I? Whether it is pizza, tortellini or some great seafood cooked at the southern islands, it always satisfies my appetite.

Rome is one the locations I just have to visit every time I travel to Italy. This city has so much to offer and of course you can't but notice the ancient history on every corner of the street. And when you run into the Coliseum, you just feel like the gladiators in ancient times (although I am happy I do not run into the lions like they did sometimes).

Venice is one of my favorite locations. I mean, it is simply stunning when you travel through the city by gondola. The buildings are old but beautiful and when you need a short break, Venice is the place to visit with your loved ones.

The tower of Pisa is classic. When you stand in front of it, you wonder why it is not falling over. You should definitely climb its stairs when you visit and watch Pisa from the roof top. The view is stunning. Every single year, the city is packed with tourists who can't resist entering the structure and climb its strange chairs. I can guarantee you, when you reach the top, you will be out of breath.

Of course, Italy is also famous for its many, many great artists. Italian music is diverse, with artists like Pavarotti, Eros Ramazotti and Andrea Bocelli, Italy has produced some top artists through the years. Listening to Italian music never bores me and when in Italy, try to visit a concert once and a while. You will not be disappointed.

Hoquiam Farmers Market - Supplying a great town

By Jon Hernandez

Throughout Hoquiam and Grays Harbor history the communities that were established, prospered, declined and stabilized to what it is today, needed a lot of things to support what industry and the men who ran and worked on those industries. The different mills and logging camps and timber companies all had work forces that needed constant supplies of basic goods and services. The farmers, fishermen and various craftsmen and business owners came or were already in Grays Harbor and Hoquiam city to meet those demands.

"Hungry for wood" that is the translation of the town and rivers' name Hoquiam which is a Native American term. The abundance of the old growth forest can only satiate men's hunger for lumber but of course he cannot eat wood, in earlier times men took from the woods, rivers and coast to supplement their meager supplies, elk, deer, salmon and berries and the occasional trade with the indigenous tribes made it possible for some few enterprising souls to continue on with their quest for precious lumber.

The men who ventured forth into the great forest of the Grays Harbor found their fortunes or meager livelihood from the good quality timber that was felled, hauled and processed and this took much time. The lumber men and those in the mill had little or no time at all to find their own food and other supplies, unlike those that came before them.

As time went by the number of logging and milling operations increased and with this came more men sometimes with their families to feed and to tend to. The locals and those around the Grays Harbor area tended to those needs as they worked hard as well as those in the lumber industry to provide those basic needs that those who came to work in Hoquiam and the other towns around Grays Harbor had.

In the earlier days of Hoquiam, fish were very abundant with the coast and the rivers providing the lumber workers and other residents fresh seafood whether through their own efforts or through trade from those who can spare the time and effort of catching the salmon and trout and other species that inhabit the waters of Hoquiam river and Grays Harbor.

Now fish can still be had, especially if they are in season you will surely find a great whole fresh fish or a sumptuous fillet ready to be poached or fried in any of the fish stalls in the Grays Harbor Market and if you are already hungry and cannot wait to cook your own salmon or trout then surely there will be a small stall selling well cooked and delicious fish dishes to tickle your taste buds.

Since the lumber business started in Hoquiam and the Grays Harbor, the increased number of people seasonally and the increasing number of residents gave to an ever increasing amount of needs for food and other necessities that such men require. It was good business for both sides since the lumber men were able to concentrate on what they needed to do and the farmers and other suppliers had good business.

Grays Harbor Farmers Market and Craft Fair is one of only two Washington State farmers markets open all-year round. And you will find excellent local produce, delicious freshly baked pastries, very fresh seafood, fine chowder, even fine arts, & quality crafted items at affordable prices or even trade. Visit and partake of what the Grays Harbor Farmers Market and Craft Fair has to offer, discover new things, make new friends and taste the best of Grays Harbor and Hoquiam itself or better yet, try to bring your business to Hoquiam and be part of the good story yourself.

Hoquiam Olympic Stadium - A symbol of Hoquiam's sense of camaraderie!

By Ruby Sims

Olympic Stadium is part and parcel of Hoquiam City's past, present and future, many friendly and not so friendly competitions have been held within its heavy wooden walls and many hundreds of thousands of fans, participants and players have enjoyed its warm and welcoming embrace. The stadium has known in one sense or another the many faces of those who just passed through or made their homes there, from great grand fathers to grand fathers to fathers and their sons and those that come after them Olympic stadium has always stood in silent testament to the greatness of these men in whatever endeavor they have chosen to undertake.

The town truthfully got its interesting name from the river, which is its namesake that the Native Americans called in their own tongue "hungry for wood" river and this name aptly applied also to the first white settlers who in the 1850's, established the first lumber camp on it's shores, because the men never stopped coming over the years due to their insatiable hunger for wood. It is then but natural for the City fathers of the 1930's to commission an all-wood design for their City's stadium not so much so because they had an overflowing supply of it, but rather they wanted to make it as an underlying statement that logging has been good to the town and this is absolutely true for some of their so-called lumber elite.

The city applied for a Civil Works Administration grant with the all wood design persistently present and in 1932, the grant was approved. 6 years later, with enough funds, a final architectural design that almost everyone agreed to and a whole lot of lumber, construction started of the all-wood Olympic stadium.

In November of that very same year the stadium opened its gates to its proud and joyous people. The stadium played host to a multitude of sports but none more so than baseball.

In 2006 through the actions of a representative of Congress, the Olympic stadium was granted a National Registry of Historical Places status as a national heritage building and the year before that the same Congressman secured a grant for funds to renovate the city stadium from the federal governments "Save America's Treasures" program. This added to the city's heritage sites such as the Polson's home turned museum and the Hoquiam castle also a former home of one the Grays Harbor lumber barons, Robert Lytle.

The all-wood construct that is Olympic Stadium is made up of old growth fir heavy-timber frame with cedar shingle siding. The stadium was designed and built in a truncated U-shape with angled corners, an open segment of a 2 story grandstand faces to the east to shelter fans and players alike from possible wind and rain coming from the ocean. The all wooden park appears to be one of the more bizarre in the country, with the shingled exterior, the covered from top to bottom 'L' shaped grandstand extending all the way down the line in right and extending into the outfield. The seats are wooden grandstands, which survey the fields and are in exceptional shape.

The most recent of users were the Grays Harbor Gulls of the Western League that closed shop in 1997 and the current Grays Harbor Bearcats, a semi-professional football team that now calls Olympic Stadium its official home.

The stadium can hold ten thousand fans within its stands and it host a lot of games in from both professional and local amateur teams, the town evidently loves sports and this shows with the number of teams it plays in as many events. Aside from the semi-pro Bearcats football team, there's the city High School football team, Youth Baseball team, the Youth football and many more. It also serves the City of Hoquiam as its community center for bigger annual events.
