Arranging Your Own Christmas Ski Holiday

By Mark Walters

It's coming up to Christmas, vacation time is booked and you want to take your family on a Christmas ski vacation. As with all family vacations, it is imperative that you plan your trip to the last degree. Below is a list of points you must consider.

Location - So where do you want to go? There are a huge number of destinations around the world that are suitable for family ski vacations, from Canada, to Scotland, to Japan; ultimately the decision you make will come down to your personal budget.

Accommodation - After you have decided where in the world you want to go, you must now decide what kind of accommodation you want to stay in. Do you like nightlife, close proximity to restaurants and bars and easier access to transport links? If so, accommodation in the center of town is your best bet. If you would prefer a calmer, more relaxed atmosphere where you are closer to nature and enjoy only the company of wildlife as opposed to other holidaymakers, then a chalet on the edge of town would be ideal.

Transportation - Depending on your budget, there are a variety of options available to you when considering how you are going to get to your desired accommodation. Initially you must decide how you will get from your home to your hotel; is there a nearby airport? Can you drive yourself? Is there a bus service? Once you have decided how to get there, you must then decide how you will get around. Can you, or do you need to, rent a car? What are the public transportation systems like? Does your hotel offer free transfer for you and your family to the ski slopes?

Clothing - It is especially important for you to budget for ski clothing for your family. Hiring ski jackets, boots and skis can cost an arm and a leg, and hiring the wrong size can be dangerous. Research on the internet before you arrive as to how much it will possibly costs, and ask either at your hotel or the proprietors of your bungalow as to where and how much renting clothing will cost. Always remember to choose clothing that is bright and keeps you warm. Due to the dangers that are prevalent when skiing, it is vital that you take every precaution in this department, especially with young children.

Equipment - Its all very well having expensive gloves, a fashionable hat and a big jacket, but what are you going to do without skis? There are a few different types of skis depending on your desired use and your abilities. It is good to get advice from experienced skiers or even trainers when choosing the correct equipment for you and your family. Don't forget boots and goggles too!

Although there is a lot to consider when planning a Christmas ski vacation, once all is organized, you can then concentrate on enjoying your vacation with your family. - 39815

The Small Town Of Hoquiam Considers The Past And Grows Up

By Ian Green

Towns sometimes seem to grow all on their own, to become their own people, so to speak, practically independent of the people living in them. This is of course only an illusion, but the way time and culture shape a town, especially a small one, says a lot about the culture at large, and about the people who are shaping it, day by day, through thousands and thousands of decisions large and small. Sometimes, though, it is necessary to make a decision on some big changes.

Up in the Pacific Northwest is a town called Hoquiam, Washington. Hoquiam was born and raised a logging and exporting town. It has maintained this identity through annual events like parades and logging competitions and an internationally popular event called Loggers' Playday. All of which has served it well enough, but what will it do when faced with the possibility for growth?

From the River's Mouth to You

Hoquiam's waterfront is at the center of its ongoing discussion of how Hoquiam will grow in the coming years. The Hoquiam River flows through the city's downtown, emptying into Grays Harbor, all in all a lovely natural feature and abundant with potential. A well-used waterway did good things for Baltimore, and practically put San Antonio on the tourist map. Is Hoquiam ready for waterfront dining and entertainment?

The last time the waterfront was popular was in the 1980s, and since then the town itself has of course grown up a bit. But still the question remains: Should something be brought to the waterfront? Is it worth the tax expenditure? Are there people with the right vision and organization to carry it out? The possibilities are there, at least.

Mature Decisions

Another consideration worth a moment is Hoquiam's relationship to Aberdeen, the larger city to the east. This relationship, like probably all neighboring towns, is one of friendly rivalry. And rivalry often does good things for innovation. Hoquiam is at the mouth of the river, right on Grays Harbor, so it has opportunities no other town in the area does.

But Hoquiam must proceed cautiously. It is interested in preserving its past, as is evident in the 2009 revitalization of its train depot. So it knows how to preserve and honor its past; now it must seriously consider how it wants to carry that history forward, what kind of city it wants to become. - 39815

And then there are those vacations where you just sit on the beach for 2 weeks and relax in the sun. Some people would consider this a waste of a holiday because they could of just sat around at home but as we know lots of people just want to relax on the beach while they've got some time off work.

And lastly there are camping holidays. Camping can be great if you're an outdoors type of person why doesn't mind the odd spider or two but for a lot of people camping is just too stressful. But because there's virtually no costs more and more people are deciding to go on camping holidays.

So now you know you options all you need to do is decide what sort of vacation suits you. - 39815

Tips On How To Save On Holiday Travel

By Adriana Noton

Today, everyone is looking for ways to cut down on their expenses. Holiday travel is one expense where everyone would love to save money. Many people think that traveling for the holidays is the most expensive time of the year to fly. However, many do not realize that there are ways to save money on their flight when they travel for the holidays. If you are traveling for the holidays, whether it is Christmas, Thanksgiving or another holiday, below are a number of tips on how you can save on holiday travel:

Book In Advance: Book your flight as soon as possible so that you can get a great deal and make sure you get a flight as it is a busy time of the year. If you are booking for Christmas, you should book in October or earlier.

Choose Alternative Airports: Often you can find a great deal on a secondary airport rather than booking with one of the major airlines. Discount airlines are a great choice so make sure you shop around and compare prices before you book your flight.

Be Flexible: If you are planning a vacation instead of going home for the holidays, be flexible when choosing your destination. Many destinations will have great deals when traveling during the off season and shoulder season. For instance, you may get a great deal when traveling to Europe at the end of November because it is the off season.

Choose the Best Travel Days: There are cheaper days to travel. For instance, it is cheaper to travel throughout the week instead of the weekends. As well, the first and last flights of the day are the cheapest times to fly. You have to be wary of peak holiday surcharges. You will find these charges on certain days such as the days around Christmas.

Travel The Night before the Actual Holiday: You will often get a great deal on your flight if you travel the night before the holiday. You will also save money if you fly on the actual day of the holiday.

Type of Flight: You can save money if you buy a specific type of flight ticket. For instance, it may be cheaper to buy 2 one way flights instead of one round trip ticket. As well, travel lightly such as one bag instead of two to avoid baggage charges. Check to see if it is cheaper to book one ticket with one airline and your return flight with another airline. Avoid the extras that increase the price of your flight such as seating with extra leg room, in-flight snacks, and other amenities. A full service airline will be much more expensive.

Mail Gifts: Consider mailing your gifts instead of taking them on the flight as the more you carry in luggage, the more you will have to pay for luggage charges. Do the same thing when you return home.

The holidays can be a very stressful time of the year. If you are traveling during the holidays, it can be even more stressful when trying to find a cheap flight. Fortunately, knowing what to look for when searching for a cheap flight will increase your chances of finding a great deal. You will then be able to relax and enjoy your holiday knowing you have saved a lot of money. - 39815

How Popular Horror Movies Can Enhance Halloween Fun

By Adriana Noton

Throwing a Halloween party? Why not make it a night with themes from popular horror movies? For, with such themes, one can have a variety of superstars and villains attending, while opening the door to hand out candy, and sharing an evening of horrific fun.

Although, in order to pull off such a task, one is going to need to have a great deal of money and resources. As such, most individuals who enjoy using such horror themes often do so with simple costumes from local costume outlets or department stores. Of course, if one wants a more authentic likeness of a character from a horror movie or scary film, one may have to buy or rent such a costume through a local or online costume rental firm.

In addition, as one can often buy, rent or create some amazing costumes, one can pretty much attend as any horror figure one can envision or imagine. This is especially true with more popular horror figures in which most Halloween outlets and stores carry such costumes. Of course, one can also find a great many different options in relation to such characters through online outlets if and when necessary.

However, if one wants to have a more authentic version of such a costume, one may either wish to find a costumer to make such a costume, or look towards a costume rental house which often rent and sell such costumes to actors. For, often if one wants an authentic replication of a character in a film, one is going to find the closest likeness at such a shop.

Still, one may also want to keep in mind that with some horror movies, such as Drag Me To Hell and The Orphan, that one most likely needs to have seen the movie to understand why one need fear such characters. For, without the plot and punchline of such films, often such films appear more as dramas than horror movies. However, for those who have seen such movies, these characters can be some of the scariest of all such characters.

Although, if one is going to want fellow party goers to also be authentic in costume, dress and action, one may also want to host a party planning party in which individuals can watch such movies in their entirety. Of course, even though one may throw a bit of a planning party, one may also want to have such videos playing in the background at the party, either with or without sound. For, in doing so, one can often pump up the feel of the horror factor for attendees.

As such, one can also plan some fun activities and games around such themes. For, with the films close at hand, one can even confirm the accuracy of costume garb and other factors. Of course, whether one plays such videos during the party, or simply identifies the best costume based on workmanship, often no Halloween party is complete without such a contest.

To this end, if one wants to have one of the best Halloween parties ever, one may want to consider using themes from popular horror movies. For, in doing so, one can have a great many ghosts, ghouls and goblins along with characters who can potentially scare the sheets right off those ghostly apparitions. - 39815

An Outstanding Synopsis Of The Movie Exiled

By Peggy Clements

If you love action flicks, but you're getting tired of all this whiz bang, shaky camera stuff where you can't tell what the heck is going on, Exiled may be the antidote you're looking for. This makes any worthwhile action movie downloads list because the action isn't so darned all over the place. Everything is clear and coherent, you can tell what's going on. You rarely see action this... Graceful.

Years after a top ranked lieutenant in the Triad betrays his boss, the boss, played by Simon Yam, sends a pair of hitmen to take him out. Meanwhile, two members of the gang come to protect the man. These characters were all friends in the gang, and it's out of duty that the two hitmen come to kill their old partner. They come to a compromise and decide to pull off a big score to support the man's wife and child before settling their conflict.

These characters are all friends since their youth, and there's a sense of warmth and sentimentality as the five characters come to a compromise and decide to honor friendship before duty. They decide to pull off a big score to help support the hero's wife and child before settling their differences. The result is something much more personal than the usual "It's Just Business" approach to violence in gangster movies.

The movie was directed by Johnnie To, the Hong Kong legend, who came out with his first films around the same time as John Woo and Ringo Lam were defining the Heroic Bloodshed genre of HK action flicks. Where those earlier films were defined by the anger at the Chinese takeover of the city, this one has a sense of forgiveness, compassion and understanding, having been made after the takeover.

The movie has an odd, dreamlike quality to it. An opening gunfight has a bathroom door fly off its hinges and it twirls gracefully around the room until the firefight finally ends. Later we see a character throw a Red Bull can into the air, and the entire gunfight happens in slow motion before the can hits the ground. This is a bullet ballet.

The story is fairly confusing. You have to simply watch it for the emotional drive of the characters, because the plot line is all over the place, however, this actually helps the movie's dream like quality. Even the director has said that he didn't know exactly what was going on while directing the film, and was hoping that he would figure it out in editing. When that didn't work out, he decided that, maybe someday, it'll make sense.

The Heroic Bloodshed genre was defined as being an angry, violent group of films, largely as a reaction to the Chinese takeover of Hong Kong. The heroes would take on hundreds of enemies at a time in a symbol of the Hong Kong independent spirit against that of communist China. So it's interesting to see To taking the genre in a new direction. This film is defined by its themes of compassion and forgiveness, and there's an odd gentleness to even the most gruesome violence in the film.

Where the classic Heroic Bloodshed films were about anger and revenge, this one is about forgiveness and compassion, and is certainly a unique, one of a kind action film, both exciting and trance like at once. - 39815

Wine And Dine In Picturesque Tuscany Italy

By Wesley Mathews

"Stunning Tuscany" does not begin to do justice to this area of Italy, located in the northeast and central region of the country. Ancient home of the Etruscan civilization, which predated the Romans and gave the region its name, Tuscany was the source of the Italian Renaissance in the 13th Century and has long been an epicenter of education, culture and the arts. It is no coincidence that the best inventive and intellectual figures in Italian history - including Dante, Botticelli, Michaelangelo and Da Vinci were all natives of Tuscany, as were Galileo, explorer Amerigo Vespucci (who gave his name to the American continents) and Puccini. It's also worth noting that the Florentine dialect is considered the literary standard for the whole of Italy.

Tuscany is home to no fewer than six official U.N. World Heritage Sites, encompassing the renowned Leaning Tower of Pisa, open to the public since 2001 (don't fret; according to engineers that have done remedial work on the structure, the tower will continue to remain until at least the year 2300).

Furthermore if you're a gourmand and a vitiphile, you should know that some of the world's most well-known and best-loved wines are manufactured in Tuscany, including chianti and monteplciano. It's remarkable to note that while this Italian region includes a population of 3.6 million, Tuscany's capitol city, Firenza (Florence) attracts three times that number of tourists every year. At http://www.florence-accommodation.com , it is possible to discover more concerning the various top quality accommodations in this, the most well-liked city in Italy; inns that are appealing, yet well-appointed and economical are fine places to begin your exploration of Florence.

From cabin rental accommodations within the countryside, you'll be able to experience some of the most memorable wine tours on the planet. On one of the most popular tours, a party of up to 16 people might take a day-long tour of the Chianti locations sampling local wines, olive oils, cheeses and it's legendary balsamic vinegars and revel in a 3 -course luncheon within a completely refurbished 13th-Century fortress. Further details concerning this tour and others are at http://enjoyingitaly.com/.

If you like, it is possible to book beautiful and relaxing bed and breakfasts while in the Tuscan countryside and explore the region in a rental car from as little as $32 each day, or should you really want to experience it the way locals do (and save money while improving your aerobic fitness), on a bicycle. Numerous local companies offer bicycle rentals in addition to guided bicycle tours of the region. Going by bicycle is a wonderful way to observe areas of Tuscany that the majority of people miss - and you are sure to work up a substantial appetite for all of the delicious foods accessible in the region's cafes and ristorantes. Bicycling and hiking tours of Tuscany are available for all levels, from simple types to more challenging trips over hill and mountain country.

The happy medium would be to do what most Italians have done for most of the previous sixty years, which is to rent a Vespa scooter. Take a look at http://www.viadelsole.it for information on Vespa tours of Tuscany and other regions of Italy. Insurance along with hotel lodging are included, and they will even ship your luggage for you! - 39815

San Antonio Alamo

By Adam Smith

The city of San Antonio is unique for many things. While it offers interesting history and an impressive tradition, it also offers modernity. A tourist can come at San Antonio, see a famous historic landmark (such as the Alamo), and later visit some hip night club.

The Alamo is visited by many tourists every year. No wonder! It's a famous historical landmark. Actually, the history of the Alamo predates the famous battle for which it's remembered for. Created in 1724, its first name was the Mission San Antonio de Valero. Its people continued working and farming there, even after the Spanish officials made the five missions secular (in 1793, in the San Antonio region).

After the 1835 conflict with the Mexican army in the city, the battle began. Ben Milam and the volunteers confronted the Mexicans for five days. They one, and one year after, General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's army arrived with a bigger army. They fought the volunteers for thirteen days. The number of volunteers increased when William B. Travis came. The Alamo was the biggest factor in the defense of Texas.

New Mexican troops arrived. That's when the end of the battle came. The Mexican army was larger and more superior. That's why the volunteers couldn't keep them off for long. The Mexican army broke into the post. Then they launched a cannon on the Long Barrack and the church. On the morning of March 7, 1836, the battle ended. General Santa Anna declared victory over the Alamo.

The Alamo represents the fight for independence and the fight for freedom. Texas is remember for this a lot. Texans know that the fight to freedom isn't easy. It takes big sacrifices. Texans are aware of this. - 39815

A Great Way To Move Off The Ground Quickly In Your Travels

By Daniel Pott

Flying is one of the most convenient ways to get where you need to go fast but last minute travel plans can be difficult to arrange when you are dealing with commercial airlines. There is very little flexibility in the flights that airlines offer and if you live in a small remote location you may find that getting where you need to go in a hurry is simply just not possible. Many times flights to different regions are only offered once a week and this can be a real nightmare.

You will spend much more than just money by trying to meet an airline schedule, you will have a lot of hassle and stress along with it, making it very unpleasant. You do have some other options out there though, no matter if you live in a remote area with a small airport with only a few flights available. You can call a private jet charter business, they will be able to accommodate your travel needs from the local airport.

Charter companies are more convenient very simply because they fly from many airports that the commercial airlines don't bother dealing with. Since commercial airlines are used to dealing with a much higher passenger volume they don't even bother when it comes to more remote airports they are just not cost effective for them. Private charters use a variety of smaller and larger airports which makes traveling much more convenient for their customers.

If you need to travel at times convenient to you or if you have a last minute trip then you can depend on the private jet charter to be your saving grace. They provide the best alternative for moving between two points from airports that are convenient for you and on your time schedule.

Flying on private jet charter has many benefits but the most important one is the huge convenience it offers. If you can fly on your own schedule without the many hassles you will have more time for the important parts such as spending time with your friends and family. You won't be spending that time traveling home from the meeting, since it's your time you should get to choose the way you use it. - 39815

A Potent Synosis Of The Dead Or Alive Trilogy By Takashi Miike

By Katelyn Fuentes

You might not have heard of these movies. If you're thinking about the ones based on the Xbox and Playstation games, we're not talking about those, but rather the trilogy of bizarre action flicks by Japanese crazy-man director Takashi Miike. This trilogy of movie downloads offers just what you're looking for if you've gotten tired of the same old same old from American action flicks and you're ready for something a little different, and a little strange.

The first film in the trilogy, Dead or Alive, was conceived simply to get two of Japan's biggest cult legends together, Sho Aikawa and Riki Takeuchi. These two are sort of the Japanese cult film answer to DeNiro and Pacino, so Dead or Alive is sort of the Japanese cult answer to Heat. It was also focused on solving one of the primary problems with that movie: The anti-climactic ending.

We won't spoil the ending of Dead or Alive, but let's just say that it's certainly not an anti-climax. The entire movie is a thrill ride, starting with a rock video style montage that gets you into the movie's world fast, and culminating in an ending that you will not believe.

Dead or Alive 2 is one of those rare sequels that blows the original away, even though the original was already pretty good. Aikawa and Takeuchi are recast as two entirely different characters, that parallel their original roles in some interesting ways. Where the first is about a cop and a gangster out to get each other, this one focuses on two childhood friends who have grown up to become hitmen who donate all of their earnings to buying medicine for children in third world countries. This movie is all heart.

This one is much more positive, much more life affirming, and surprisingly sweet and sentimental, whereas the first was relatively dark and negative in comparison. It's interesting having these two movies, that are so different from each other, and yet have so much in common.

The third film, Dead or Alive Final, goes in the science fiction direction, more specifically, cyberpunk, with replicants and evil dystopian governments. While it might not be the most exciting of the trilogy, it's worth seeing so you can check out how it ties the whole thing together in such a strange way.

If you like the Dead or Alive trilogy, you should also check out Deadly Outlaw Rekka, which feels like the fourth film in the series in spirit. It has the same sense of over the top craziness and stars Riki Takeuchi in the lead role.

The trailer for the first movie in the trilogy proudly declares that Miike is the mad dog of Japanese film, and it's true, that's not just hyperbole. The guy makes something like four or five movies a year, and has created over one hundred total over the course of his career. Not all of them are of the same quality, but for just one in ten movies to be great, that's ten great films, which is more than most directors ever get a chance to put out. - 39815

Locate A Useful Legal Movie Download Services

By Mike Burt

Finding legal movie downloads can be a little difficult but in recent times, the industry has actually finally started to take off and there are many online shops in which you can buy and downloading movies online rather than having to wait for them to be delivered for you and having to pay an extra delivery charge.

Firstly, you might want to consider the advantages of being able to legally download movies of the Internet. The most obvious one is that you can download them quickly with most broadband connections and you don't have to worry about going all the way to the store to try to find what you want.

You may also be concern that you won't be on to play the movies on anything else other than your computer. While many of us play our movies on a computer, the majority of people still have a separate entertainment systems and the computer is not used for this for many of us.

Also, with today's Internet speed extremely quick now, we want to get the most out of the connections which we paid for. However, if in the unlikely event you are on a limited broadband access, and you only have a limited amount of bandwidth per month that you can use, then you may not be able to download too many movies without having to pay extra for them.

There are also a few things that you should be aware of. There are some particularly questionable services out there which only give you links to other sites which has the movies, typically torrent sites. This is entirely illegal, and not only will you be breaking the law, but you will also be paying for it as well.

So where do you find these legal movie downloads? Do they really exist? There are plenty of online stores these days are not just iTunes which will allow you to buy and download movies online. However, there are some things that you want to look out for beforehand.

Firstly, the obvious advantage of being able to legally downloading movies online is convenience. No longer do you have to go all the way to your high street store to try to find a movie that you want, only to find that they don't have it in stark any more whenever did have in the first place.

You also want to pay attention to the formats available. DivX movies are some are the most popular and will play back on virtually any modern DVD player or standalone product. Indeed, many top end mobile phones can even play divx so you shouldn't have any problems when it comes to compatibility.

It is also cheaper. You don't have to pay for transport to get you to your nearest high street store, if you don't have one in walking distance for example. You also get delivery quicker, and the prices of the actual products tend to be significantly cheaper as well. You want to find unlimited movie downloads, but you will be paying per movie as anything else is likely to be an illegal business. - 39815

The Best Travel Toys For Educational Time

By Jenny Untermeyer

The home today is full of distractions - from e-mail and texting to TV and video games - it can be challenging to get kids to study and develop important skills. Travel time is the perfect time to get away from the distractions and work with your kids to master a topic or face an educational challenge. These tips help you find the best travel toys and activities that are also educational.

Travel journals can be utilized to develop writing and spelling skills. Begin the work prior to leaving home with some research on the destination and then complete the journal during the trip. In addition to entries on best/worst/favorites, include fact based pages for the history or other interesting information about the destination city or country. For summer trips, the journal can serve as the starting point for writing a back to school essay. It may also serve as extra credit in English or History class.

You can practice math facts anytime. On short trips around town, review basic facts. On longer trips, you can print math fact sheets, create flash cards or even play with math magic. Dice games are also a fun way to practice math facts.

Go beyond the coloring book with activity books. Multi-purpose activity books will build a range of logic and problem solving skills. If there are specific areas that need mastery, look for a dedicated book. Beware of loading up on all one type of book - a mixture will entertain kids for longer and avoid burnout.

Map reading skills are a natural for travel. I suggest buying several different types of maps and using all of them during the trip. One map should show the entire journey. A detailed map of the city can be used for finding fun activities, planning an itinerary or even mapping out the directions for the day. Once at your destination, look for the colorful tourist maps that are fun to use for identifying unique or unusual restaurants, destinations or shopping.

Help your child use travel time productively by learning a new skill or mastering a challenging one. It takes time to find the best travel toys that are educationally based but it is worth the effort! - 39815

Hire A Limousine To Tour Edmonton Canada In Style

By Stephen Daniels

Edmonton, Canada is not Toronto, but it certainly has its share of attractions. And with plenty of limousine rentals to choose from, why not tour the town in style? Home to just under a million people, Edmonton has been dubbed the "Festival City" for its 40 annual celebrations. But the downtown, which rests along the North Saskatchewan River, spreads outward dispersing the city's many attractions over a large area. Exploring the city can be more daunting than one might imagine. With a limo driver's intimate knowledge of the city and surrounding areas, you can comfortably enjoy the sights and leave the navigation to a professional.

Downtown sits between the Legislative Building of granite and sandstone to the west and the castle-like Fairmont Hotel Macdonald to the east. But the heart of downtown is the Sir Winston Churchill Square. This beautiful public space was revitalized to host the city's world class festivals and fairs during the 2004 centennial. Live music performances, film festivals, and food and culture-based events are just a few of the summertime celebrations the square hosts. And the arts district just beyond it, offers plenty to the aesthete, with theatres, galleries, and music halls.

But Edmonton offers more than just "big city" entertainment. Along a 300-km stretch of the North Saskatchewan river valley just east of town, you'll view all manner of creatures such as bald eagles and bears. Alberta's diverse wildlife also includes elk herds, free-roaming bison, moose, and deer in its several parks. Elk Island National Park or the adjacent Cooking Lake-Blackfoot recreation area are both excellent places to witness them. But if you don't want to go too far afield, the John Janzen Nature Centre offers nature programs, events, exhibits and information in a metropolitan setting.

Considered the world's largest entertainment and shopping center with over 800 stores, West Edmonton Mall has its share of attractions as well. The perfect compliment to local wildlife, Sea Life Caverns displays aquatic life of more than 200 species of colourful fish, sharks, stingrays, reptiles and penguins. But this mall has something for everyone, boasting an IMAX 3-D theatre, a dinner theatre, a triple-loop roller coaster, a five-acre indoor water park with miles of waterslides, bungee jumping, and ice skating on an NHL-size rink.

With over 40,000 students and staff, the 90 ivy-covered brick and modern buildings of the University of Alberta is another spectacular part of Edmonton. Located on its campus, Foote Field hosts many of the city's important sporting events. And the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium is home to the Alberta Ballet, the Edmonton Opera, and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

Edmonton's 6-months of snow and chilly conditions, though, can make these sights more challenging to visit than in warmer cities. Contacting an Edmonton limousine service to chauffer you and your friends around this incredible city might be the best option during these winter months. It'll make your excursion not only stress-free, but extraordinary.

Watch The Great Film Classic Lawrence Of Arabia

By Wade Leonard

Lawrence of Arabia, released in 1962, was based on the life of Thomas Edward Lawrence, a British officer stationed in the Middle East during World War I. This epic film won seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Score, Best Director, and Best Cinematography. It is considered by many to be one of the greatest films ever made. It focuses on Lawrence's involvement with the Arab tribes and their rebellion against the Turks.

Borrowing a page from Citizen Kane, the movie opens with Lawrence's death in 1935. He was killed while riding a motorcycle near his home when he swerved to miss two boys on bicycles. Reporters at his funeral services try in vain to glean some understanding of the man from those who knew him best. The action then shifts to World War I Cairo. Lieutenant Lawrence is dispatched to ascertain what chance Prince Faisal appears to have in his rebellion against the Turks. In a meeting with Faisal, Lawrence recommends a daring attack on Aqaba. From that point on, Lawrence finds himself firmly entrenched in the Arab Rebellion, even when it puts him at odds with his native land. During the course of the war, he discovers aspects of his personality that disturb him, such as a certain enjoyment of killing.

Most of the main roles were ultimately awarded to actors who were not initially chosen. Peter O'Toole plays the lead, but Marlon Brando and Albert Finney both turned the part down first. Alec Guinness was not cast as Prince Faisal until Laurence Olivier dropped out. David Lean, who directed, had to convince Sam Spiegel, the producer, to cast Jack Hawkins as General Allenby. Spiegel wanted to sign Cary Grant in the role. Omar Sharif was eventually cast as Sherif Ali, but only after Alain Delon and Horst Buchholz rejected it. Filming had actually begun with Edmond O'Brien playing Jackson Bentley, the American reporter. When O'Brien fell ill, Arthur Kennedy was cast to replace him. Anthony Quinn, Jose Ferrer, and Claude Rains, who played Auda abu Tayi, the Turkish Bey, and Mr. Dryden respectively, however, were the first choices.

Several additional characters were also based on real people. General Murray, Prince Faisal, Auda abu Tayi, and General Allenby all played a part in Lawrence's life. His servants, Farraj and Daud, and Talal, who committed a suicidal charge at Tafas, were real. So was Gasim, who was first rescued and then executed by Lawrence.

Other characters were composites. Sherif Ali was modeled primarily after Prince Faisal's cousin. The character of Colonel Brighton seems to have been based largely on Stewart Newcombe. Lowell Thomas, who actually covered Lawrence's story and played a large part in his fame, was the inspiration for reporter Jackson Bentley.

Like most films that are based on historical facts, the film takes some liberties with the truth. For example, the Arab Council was far more powerful than the movie indicated. The desertion of the Arab army was a work of fiction. Other facts, such as the reporter's statement in late 1917 that America was not yet in the war, warped the timeline a bit.

A debate has raged since the movie's release over whether it accurately depicts T. E. Lawrence. Some state that the facts indicate he was egotistical while others deny it. Some argue that he was masochistic and others that he was homosexual. His brother and Lowell Thomas have both criticized the film's portrayal of Lawrence. The debates have not decreased the popularity of the film.

There have been several versions of Lawrence of Arabia since 1962. The original theatrical release was 222 minutes without the intermission, exit music, and overture. Next, twenty minutes were cut. In the seventies, there was a version that ran just a little over three hours. Finally, in 1989, there was a 216 minute version released. - 39815

An Accurate Synopsis Of The Movie A Clockwork Orange

By Mara Orr

Premiering in the United States in 1971 with an X-rating, A Clockwork Orange, is a film which portrays a great deal of dark satire for the first time in such a colorful and unusual film. However, while a colorfully creative film, it is also brutally violent. Therefore, before going to see this movie, one may want to consider their ability to tolerate such a film with themes of murder, rape, and other violent crimes.

While offering some of the most colorful entertainment ever seen in films at the time of the original release, one can often escape the other more violent aspects by focusing on the awkwardness and beauty of the many art deco items within the setting. In addition, although this movie had been set in the future with regards to such brutally violent gangs at the time, many more gangs are prevalent today than during the period the movie was released. Therefore, while this may have been a really hard movie to watch in the nineteen seventies, it can be an even harder movie for some to watch today.

As a matter of fact, sometimes individuals have asked if this movie has had an impact on the development and popularity of gangs. However, as Al Capone can attest, gangs were around long before A Clockwork Orange. So, while no is the most likely answer, this does not mean that other criminally minded individuals may not use the images and plot in a negative way with regards to such behavior.

Still, this movie has a lot more to teach one about the role of Karma and gangs when one can stay with the movie and follow the plot. For, when one begins to see a dramatic reversal in the lead character, one can almost envision how the next days of his life are going to play out. As, one can quickly see, the character is going to be reconnecting with a few people from his present life, people he may not want to reconnect with based on crimes committed before experimental treatment had been completed.

Regardless, this is still a film that each person must investigate for oneself as to whether Alex deserves the treatment which is being provided. In addition, there are other areas in which he must face drastic situations, including being rejected by his parents due to his crimes. Situations, which may have just saved Alex both his life and his relationships with many people who love and care for him after having gone through such traumatic experiences related to both police and treatment.

As for Karma, as with any other ideology or religion today, there are many who believe and many who do not. For those that believe however, many see an extremely strong correlation between Karma and events in this film. However, when considering the effects of Karma, one may also want to consider that Karma can also provide great gifts to those who attempt a generous, good and gracious life as well as providing lessons to those who do not.

One can also look at different methods in which the movie can effect one in their personal life. One such way the film does so is by returning Alex to his past. Again and again, he encounters the victims he left behind before going to jail and being transferred to treatment. Thus, always returning Alex back to a time in the past. Something, not a lot of people enjoy, even those who have not been involved in crimes against those with whom relationships have ended.

To this end, there are a lot of valuable lessons which can be learn from A Clockwork Orange about crime, gangs and Karma, all of which play a vital role in the universal laws of reality. For, whether one believes in Karma or not, generally one gets back the energy one gives out. To this end, most individuals have good and bad days. However, it is those individuals who take it to the next level and take their frustrations out on the innocent which are the ones most commonly effected by Karma and other such ideologies. - 39815

Breathtaking Scenery Found In The Yucatan

By Ron Williams

Far from the flamboyant, all-inclusive beach accommodations of Cancun and the exclusive hotels along Playa del Carmen, virgin white sands cascade into the shallows within the emerald-blue sea; rustic "eco-chic" cabanas sit furtively in the mangroves, serenaded by the melodies of the roving fruit distributors plus pelicans glide the temparate and breezy Caribbean tradewinds. This really is the majestic and picturesque beach of Tulum and other Caribbean beach communities like it. I visualize that even some of the most much-admired artists who holiday at its seductive coastline are intimidated by such perfection.

Approximately a 2 hour drive from Cancun airport roughly depending on traffic within Playa del Carmen, the community of Tulum can be reached by way of the 307 highway, which runs more or less parallel to the Riviera Maya. The shore is an additional four kilometres from the municipality, connected via the tail-end of the Coba street, recognized locally as the "road to the beach." Despite its relative proximity, Tulum has barely a fraction of the vacationers flooding into Cancun and Playa del Carmen each year. Places like Tulum have plenty of opportunity to uncover a secluded spot.

The greater selection of deluxe cabanas and resorts sparsely dominating the beachfront are alongside the south side. In comparison to the exceptionality and grandeur eclipsing a great deal of Cancun and Playa del Carmen, Tulum is one of those places that is discerningly "chic". I would suggest staying at places like La Zebra and others like it because of their roomy and comfy cabanas and ambient beach club, which serves some of the best margaritas in Tulum and hosts Sunday night salsa. If, however, a spa retreat is what you have in mind, Maya Tulum Resort and others like it offer a variety of Mayan specialities spa treatments as well as the "Sobada Maya" - a purifying, deep belly massage.

Further south lays Sian Ka'an: a 1.3 million hectare biosphere reserve enriched with a diverse ecology. The first of its type founded in Mexico, now an UNESCO World Heritage location, Sian Ka'an offers a hospitable glance into the widespread varieties of fauna and flora that abounds the peninsula's limestone jungle. Sailing the big lagoon on a boat expedition is a chance to watch an array of bird species living in the mangroves. Otherwise you could try a sunset dinner on top of the roof-terrace of Cesiak, a "chic" ecotourism accommodation and learning centre. Spectacular is the only real way to explain the panoramic view of the sleepy lagoon against the gigantic jungle.

If you do nothing else on vacation in Tulum, you need to snorkel. Better yet: scuba dive. This peninsular is bejeweled with the 2nd largest coral reef in the world - the Mesoamerican coral reef, that is easily reached from the coast. If you are trying to find something more captivated, the area is additionally exclusive for its "cenotes": limestone caverns and caves filled with fresh water and adorned with fantastic stalactite formations. Honored by the Mayan people, cenotes are believed to be the entrance into the underworld.

Guarding the open sea, on a cliff to the north stand the magical Tulum ruins, from which the town inherits its name. A staggering symbol of Mexico's splendid indigenous heritage, this ancient walled city was ordained Tulum by explorers John Lloyd Stephens and Frederick Catherwood in 1843 (Tulum denoting "wall" in Mayan). The initial name is regarded as "Zama": city of dawn. An ideal name for a city prepared to hail the rising sun. The structures within the wall are dated from the post-classic period (around 1200-1500AD). Even though the times of the Maya as master astrologists, theologians and scientists have long since dissipated, contemporary Mayan culture remains stunning in Tulum and its surroundings. As you begin to wonder around, your eyes are going to be delighted by the brightly embroidered, traditional gowns worn by Mayan women, known as the huipiles. There are also 100's, if not thousands of Playa del Carmen hotels and other Yucatan peninsula hotels that you'll adore if you care to be where all the crowds are. However with Tulum beach hotels, you'll be able to avert the huge crowds and get some small town service and small town prices.

Obviously, these are just a few ideas. You could potentially evenly spend your entire holiday idling between the undisturbed dunes, analyzing the pink pieces of coral within the unblemished, white sands. Not a soul would blame you. - 39815

Dirty No Money Family Trips Today

By Neil Hanson

Most people would be thrilled to have the chance to take an unplanned vacation - to just take off on a spur-of-the-moment getaway. Before now, that was almost unthinkable due to the sky-high prices of last-minute plane tickets. You'll be happy to know that it's now possible to book a vacation on short notice and get a great deal on that vacation you've been wanting to take. Let's look at some easy ways to schedule a vacation on a moment's notice:

1. The Internet is your friend when it comes to finding sources that list inexpensive vacations which can be booked late. Whether your chosen destination is the Caribbean, Hawaii, Europe, or another exotic location, you will find discount travel websites online, that provide vacation packages at discount prices. These sites specialize in putting together affordable vacation packages for people traveling on short notice. Users can check availability and prices on a wide range of vacation packages. If you are the kind of person who doesn't want to spend a lot of money to get out of town fast, these sites are the perfect choice for you. It's possible to save up to 30% or more when you book your vacation on these sites rather than trying to make all the travel arrangements yourself.

2. Another way you can save money booking at the last minute is to book your vacation during the low season. You can often save 10% or more traveling during the low season than during the high season for the same vacation package. Have a hankering to visit Paris, London, Spain, Athens, Barcelona, or Frankfurt? You can with the excellent European packages that are available. You can expect to find the best bargains to Mexico and Hawaii during their off-season, which is the summer, and for European vacation deals, the winter will prove the time for travel discounts.

3. Another way to save on travel costs for last-minute booking is to take a trip to a destination that has recently experienced a hurricane. Most people think this is a bad time to travel, but the location's economy is probably suffering because people aren't traveling there and will offer discount packages to boost tourism. Think of it this way: you'll be aiding the local economy as well as taking an inexpensive vacation.

4. Traveling with a group of friends is a great way to save money and have some fun. You can split the costs of the vacation package. Use online travel discount sites to help you decide where to go, as these can help you narrow down the options for inexpensive trips.

5. Another technique for conserving money when booking your vacation, is to fly off-peak season, days, and hours. The most inexpensive time to fly is typically during the middle of the week. Along that same line, it's cheaper to fly on the off-season. Instead of traveling during the first week of April, for example, it makes better sense and will cost less to take your trip towards the end of March. - 39815

By Joshua McFerson

I am a regular visitor of London, almost all of the time for job purposes. I love its resorts but my experience in Covent Garden hotel made a fantastic distinction. You cannot possibly get lost, since the hotel is centrally located, and in among London's best communities in the West End. The fact is that, it is just a couple of steps away from the Covent Garden. Not far away, you'll find wonderful boutiques, small cafes and also a wonderful French restaurant just across the avenue. It is a perfect place to sit and watch Londoners strutting all over the avenues brimming with life.

The hotel's design is not only exclusive, but also very legendary. According to locals, the Hotel was in the past a hospital which throughout 1996 was rehabilitated into the most wonderful thing you may possibly come across in London. The front door is attractively embellished with a mixture of both classic and modern decorations. I fell in love with the stunning staircases adorned in wonderful decorations. My room was a mixture of tapestry and hand made Asian fabrics simply to provide it a cool feel. Covent Garden Hotel includes a welcoming lobby and in contrast to the majority of hotels in London, my room was really big, and had all the comfort you would like to get, and surely ideal for family.

The bathrooms are luxurious and modern, with luxurious double showers. There is a TV and laptop for yourself in the rooms, and dependable internet connectivity is definitely a assurance. Those on business do not have to worry about leaving their laptop or even having difficulties doing work during the night.

One unique thing about Covent Garden Hotel is that although it attracts those busy business oriented people, additionally, it strives to provide families as well as other travelers a homey atmosphere.

The hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and will always run to open the door for you. In fact I came across a few chocolates and strawberries inside my room. I was very surprised by this gesture. It absolutely was good for me, particularly coming after a long day traveling. it was great to ultimately find some peace of mind!. Various other conveniences available such as a gym/fitness room, bar, restaurant having good food, nicely stocked and exceptional library and also a drawing room. - 39815
