Business can be a very stressful thing so the last thing that you need is a trip which does not go to plan and adds more stress onto your shoulders. So the first thing you should do especially with the longer trips is to ensure that you pre-book in advance and if you have any connections to make then ensure you give yourself enough time to make them.

It saves you from appearing at the airport and the company has no note of you having booked.

If you have an item such as a laptop then keep it with you on your journey. Do not put it in luggage which has to go in the hold of an aircraft as the baggage handlers are not very well known for their careful handling skills. You may get a nasty surprise at the other end which could turn out very costly. However you should also check an airline for its guidelines on what is allowed to be carried on as hand luggage. They may have restrictions on certain electrical equipment so ensure you know and understand these before traveling.

You may need to stay in a hotel for at least one night and if this is the case you should see about carrying your own Ethernet cable with you on your journey. Hotels do offer you internet access and points where you can plug in your laptop however you have no guarantee that the cable is there or if it has been broken at some point. At least by carrying your own you know you shall still be able to connect.

You are more than likely going to claim for expenses during your trip so you should perhaps buy a wallet or purse which is solely for keeping the receipts together. This makes it easier for you to work out what money is owed to you with everything being in the one place. This simple idea does not cost much to implement and you may of course have a spare purse or wallet which is idea for this.
