Clippers Pull Plug On Dunleavy's Coaching Career

By Ross Everett

In one of the stranger front office shakeups in recent NBA history, the Los Angeles Clippers have 'relieved' Mike Dunleavy of his head coaching duties effective immediately. He'll remain on board as the Clippers' general manager, and both he and the team cited the demands of the forthcoming trade deadline and free agent market as a catalyst for the change.

Not surprisingly, there is much speculation as to the back story behind the move. Some with knowledge of the situation suggest that Clippers' owner Donald Sterling wanted to fire Dunleavy altogether, but relented due to the $5 million the team will owe him in the final year of his contract next year. More recently, a bizarre rumor has been circulating that Sterling has approached Isiah Thomas about taking over Dunleavy's coaching position and becoming team president. While Isiah would bring a level of fabulousness never before seen on the Clippers' sidelines, he hasn't had much success either as a coach or executive in the NBA.

Despite the diva-like drama, everyone is keeping up appearances in public. Dunleavy issued this statement, playing along with the team's insistence that the decision to give up coaching was 'mutual':

"I've come to the conclusion that this is the ideal time for me to direct my efforts toward the many personnel opportunities that lie before us, such as the trade market, the draft and the free-agent process. We fully expect to be active and productive on all those fronts."

Team President Andy Roeser added:

"We fully agree with Mike that this is the right time to make this change. It just seems clear that the team needs a fresh voice and we hope that our players will respond in a positive way.As we approach the trade deadline, the NBA draft and the upcoming free-agent period, our team is very well positioned from a salary-cap standpoint. Mike's experienced input will be vitally important as we continue to develop our young talented nucleus and shape our team's future."

Dunleavy's agent Warren LeGarie continued the spin:

"This is something we've been contemplating for some time. There's a shelf life to coaching sometimes. So you constantly have to keep measuring whether [the team's inconsistency] is because of injuries, because of you, or something else. And at some point you have to make a judgment call about what's best for the team, and that's what Mike did."

The Clippers have lost 7 of their last 10 games to fall to 21-29 on the year. They're 17 games behind the Western Conference leading Los Angeles Lakers and 8 games out of the final playoff spot. The schedule won't get any easier for the Clippers after the break as they head to Portland's Rose Garden Arena to take on the Blazers. - 39815

The Mapes Hotel: Lost Landmark Of Northern Nevada History

By Ross Everett

The Mapes Hotel in Reno, Nevada met its demise on Superbowl Sunday of 2000 when 75 pounds of explosives packed inside the structure's support columns brought it to the ground. The controlled demolition came despite years of effort by a number of groups within the community to preserve the building with lawsuits, redevelopment proposals, and grass roots lobbying efforts. The National Trust for Historic Preservation even took up the cause, challenging the destruction in a lawsuit that eventually reached the Nevada Supreme Court.

While the logic and necessity of demolishing the Mapes is very questionable, one thing that is certain is that the hotel was an important part of Northern Nevada history. The opening of the Mapes in'47 ushered in a new era in casino gambling, and changed the economy and way of life in Nevada forever. The Mapes was actually the first property in the country to combine a hotel, casino and live entertainment under the same roof. It also became the hotel of choice for celebrities staying in Northern Nevada. Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe stayed at The Mapes during the filming of 'The Misfits'. Joseph McCarthy, America's famed anti-Communist crusader, admitted to a reporter over cocktails in the Mapes Lounge that he really didn't have a list of Communists in the US despite his frequent and vitriolic insistence to the contrary.

In the 50s and 60s it became, along with Lake Tahoes Cal-Neva Lodge the place to be seen in Northern Nevada. The top floor, window-walled Sky Room showcased performances by the legends: Sinatra, Louis Prima, Mae West, Milton Berle, Sammy Davis, Jr., and the Marx Brothers among others. Subsequent years were not kind to downtown Reno but the Mapes prospered during the 60's and 70's. The hotel finally closed in'82, due more to financial difficulties experienced by the Mapes family caused by one of their other Northern Nevada gaming properties than anything else.

Reno has yet to experience the sort of growth that has been seen in Southern Nevada, and for that reason the destruction of the Mapes is more open to debate than the hotel demolitions to the south. Even the demolition of The Sands--perhaps the most historically significant casino in the state--is hard to argue against given the inability of such a small property to compete in the current Las Vegas marketplace and in light of the value of the mid-strip real estate.

That's not the case in Reno, where vacant land and/or buildings ripe for redevelopment are abundant downtown and in the other casino areas of the city. The official reason that the Mapes had to come down was that the city needed the land to expand its vision for downtown redevelopment. While this is certainly a much needed effort, to suggest that the existence of the Mapes was a barrier is absurd. In fact, many of the proposals rejected by the city would have gone a long way to enhance the revitalization of downtown Reno and included artists lofts, office space and other mixed used properties. Despite receiving a number of viable concepts for the Mapes Building, the City Redevelopment Authority rejected all of them and the Mapes was destined for demolition.

The role of the City Redevelopment Authority was questioned throughout the process. Overlooking the Truckee River, the hotel was on a prime location between the downtown casino area and the riverfront district. Back in'96, the city of Reno purchased the hotel and began entertaining proposals for renovation and redevelopment. A number of sound financial proposals were presented that would preserve the integrity of the structure including condominiums, office space, and perhaps most viable, upscale senior apartments. Oddly, all of these proposals were turned down by the citys Redevelopment Agency which eventually led to the demolition of the structure.

Following the 2000 demolition, the lot remained vacant for over a year until a temporary ice skating rink was hastily constructed the following winter. The site now houses a permanent ice skating rink which, while not a bad use for the land, isn't the sort of game changing improvement suggested by the City Redevelopment Agency and their adamant insistence that the building be demolished. To the contrary, it appears they had no specific plan or even general idea of what to do with the land but for some reason wanted to see the hotel come down. This has led to all manner of speculation, ranging from financial self interest to a rumor that the structure was 'haunted' and needed to be destroyed to forestall future paranormal activity in Washoe County. Whatever the reason, the city of Reno lost a valuable landmark that played a significant part in the economic growth of the entire state. - 39815

Caracas Air Connections

By Zachary Sadowski

If you are looking for cheap airfare to Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, you don't have to worry too much. Caracas flights cost less than those to the most popular South American destinations such as Peru and Argentina. Venezuela is a country situated on the Northern edge of South America, not far from the Caribbean and Central America. As a result, the distance from North America to Caracas is not a lot, and consequently, the flights are cheaper.

On an average, Caracas flights from the US cost roughly US $600. However, the exact rate depends on where you board your flight, when you are flying and the airline you are flying with.

1. Where You Fly From - Depending on which part of the United States you are flying from, the airfares can vary greatly, with price differences of up to US$200. Caracas airfare is the cheapest from Newark or New York, with the lowest prices averaging around US$525 for a return ticket. Flying from Miami, Florida can cost around US$650 for a return ticket, while flights departing from Los Angeles are the most expensive, around US$720. These prices are simply an estimate, check with your airline for a more accurate estimate.

In order to cut cost, you can also book a domestic flight on a budget airline (such as Jetblue) to another city in the United States and fly to Caracas from there. These domestic flights usually cost less than the actual price difference and will shave off a big part of your expenditure on airfare.

Another way to cut cost is by looking for airfares departing from a nearby but smaller airport. For instance, instead of flying from Los Angeles, you can check out flights leaving Long Beach Airport. Budget airlines tend to use this tactic to cut cost; you can also do the same and leave your car at the nearby airport.

2. When You Fly - It is no surprise that Caracas flights are expensive on the weekends, but they are expensive even on Mondays, as that is the day people come back from their weekend holiday. The peak seasons like Christmas and New Year, and the spring and summer breaks are also the worst times you could pick if you have a tight budget.

By traveling during the off-peak season, you will not only reduce your cost, but also miss the crowds. Checking-in and boarding your flight will be a breeze.

3. Which Airline to Choose - If you are trying to get the lowest Caracas airfare, the best strategy would be to compare the prices of various airlines before choosing. There are several airfare search engines that will help you fish out the best deal for your dates.

An example of such a site is farecompare.com. It searches the airfares available on popular sites such as Travelocity, Lowfares, Priceline and Orbitz, and then displays the results, allowing you to make comparisons. Farecompare is one of my personal favorites, whenever I'm on the lookout for budget airfare.

I addition to comparing prices, you can also compare dates in which the cheapest Caracas airfare is available. Kayak is a website that lists the airfares of all the flights flying off to Caracas in a particular month. - 39815

Buying A Private Jet With Fractional Ownership In Mind

By Chris Channing

We can't all afford the lavish private jet with a mini bar and water bed in it. The good news is that you might be surprised if you may or not, thanks to the fractional ownership style of private jet purchases. It's less money upfront, and a fully functional jet is still at one's fingertips.

A company that specializes in fractional jet ownership will also go through the means of outlining what kind of schedule the private jet will follow. If the company offers the option of mediating between needs and wants of other investors in the group, be sure to take them up on the offer. It's nice to have a third party mediation facility if any disputes over the jet are brought forth by others.

If it turns out you didn't need a private jet after all, and you are looking to sell your share, that is a possibility with companies that manage fractional ownership schemes. A private jet charter that does this can liquidate a specific share in the jet and offer fair market value for it. Keep in mind that the fact that jets are subject to wear and deprecation, and that you will not get what you put into the venture.

A managed private jet charter service will also setup a way to get a jet charter when the jet you paid for is tied up. When dividing the ownership between as many as ten people or more, you will likely have to find an alternate solution for emergencies. Ask your private jet charter service what they can offer for emergency flights.

Owning a private jet is just the start of the expenses. Even after all the initial costs are paid, you are only getting started in paying the ongoing bills for keeping the jet running. Also factor in high costs of fuel and pilots, catering businesses, and so forth. It's an expensive process to undertake, to say the least. The company you sign with should give you a detailed break down of the average fees it will take to run a jet.

Some private jet charters are edgy on what you can do with the jet. While some will allow you to take one for a joy ride on a moment's notice, others require a fair warning unless it's an emergency. Check with several companies and see which has the right lifestyle for what you plan on using your jet for. Also find a service that has clients, but not just any client! Make sure they have many happy clients as well.

In Conclusion

Private jet ownership schemes are the perfect solution to a problem where budgets are concerned. Private jets are much too expensive for the average Joe to rent one out, but thanks to modern ownership methods, almost anyone can get a piece of the pie. - 39815

At the end of the day, you are dead tired. All you are thinking of now is the cozy warm comforts of your sleeping bag. And you know that you have to get up early the next day for yet another arduous trek ahead no less exciting. The sleeping bag simply becomes your heavenly bliss.

A synthetic bag is definitely not as expensive as a down fill bag. It is also much easier to clean up the synthetic bag. But still do you have a sleeping bag that keeps the cold out? If the floor is cement, it is going to be cold. But if it is wooden it is warmer. An open space or a hut means that you are going to be under the mercy of the chill winds. Do you have a sleeping bag that has the insulation that you need? You should have checked whether the choice of the sleeping bag is that best suit your needs.

The down fill bag is warmer than the synthetic fill bag. But the insulation is better with the synthetic bag. The insulation lasts longer too. The down fill bag is better for the cold winter as it keeps you warmer. The down bags are lighter. They are ideal for taking along with you if you plan for a longer trip. But they need to be taken good care of so as to prevent damages. These last longer and are durable. The down bags are also costlier.

Sleeping bags comes in the more spacious rectangular shape and the mummy shape. The mummy shaped bags have the best insulation than a rectangle shaped one but lesser space. The rectangular shaped bags can be folded and packed. But the mummy shaped bag has to be rolled and packed. The helium marmot helium 15 sleeping bag is ultra-light best suited for long travels such as mountaineering.

When choosing a sleeping bag, you should keep in mind the number of days you will be traveling, the weather and environment of the place you will be moving through. Make sure that you check whether the climate is wet or not. You sure will be happy that you did check all these. - 39815

Traveling With The Micro Flex Kick Scooter

By Steven Freeman

Scooters come in all shapes and sizes, from the small one suitable for children, to the larger one, great for tricks. If you're just looking for a scooter to ride through the park, then you might be confused by this variety, and might end up choosing something that doesn't fit your needs. Why spend more on something you don't need or probably never going to use, or why spend less on a flimsy scooter, that's going to brake after prolonged use.

You look for something that's going to last, and which looks cool, but you don't want a scooter made for kids, and you know you will never try any tricks on it, so which one would be the best choice? The cheapest scooters are never a good choice, because the money you save while purchasing it, might be less than your hospital bill. So what do you do?

You go for a well known scooter brand, built out of solid materials, and, most importantly, one that looks good. After all, you don't want to ride through the park on a small, pink scooter, do you? At this point, you don't have a lot of options, but all of them are very good. A little expensive, it's true, but built to last.

One of the best options remaining is the Micro Flex Kick Scooter . You can also ride it to work, if it's not too far away. The exercise is good for you, no matter what your physical condition is, and the small scooter is easily carried in your backpack, after you're done using it.

One more piece of advice: don't go to watch the youngsters practicing tricks on their scooters, when you are in the park. That hobby can become addictive, and, no matter how easy those flips might seem to you, believe me, they're not. Once you're hooked, there's no other way than trying them yourself. That's a real temptation, isn't it? - 39815

Single Action Cigar Lighter Technology

By Ryder Michaels

Many individuals who enjoy smoking the occasional cigar decide to make the move up to high-end products such as Lotus torch lighters. These devices come with a host of conveniences that make them much easier for the user to employ. Multiple flame jets and high-quality cases make these natural choices for those who want a lighter that may last for generations in some cases. Single action lighters are one of the most interesting products on the market.

Many lighters have a lid of one sort or another built into them to protect the components. Most often, the lid is flipped open and the lighter is lit. In a single action lighter with a lid, one need only push the button. The entire lighting process, from sliding back the lid to starting the flow of gas to producing the spark is done with one press of the button. This can be quite an advantage.

These devices are very well-suited to those who have trouble performing fine tasks with their hands. They are also excellent for those who just happen to enjoy a bit of flash in their lighter. Most often, these lighters have slide-open type lids, though some of them have standard flip-open lids. These actions are not common on fluid-filled lighters due to the ignition mechanism.

Combining a single action lighter with multi-jet arrangements makes the device into a true showpiece. The ease of lighting combined with the flashy flames truly makes them something to see and adds to their appeal. Many of these devices are also combined with cigar smoking implements such as cutters and other devices. If one is purchasing a high-end lighter, it may well be worth it to go ahead and purchase a single action model. These lighters are available in both flip-lid and sliding door configurations.

Single action lighters can usually be opened manually should the user prefer. Having the option is nice, however, especially if one has their hands full when they're trying to light a cigar. These lighters are made of high-quality components so users should not take the complexity as presenting an increased risk of the lighter breaking. These devices are also available in a wide variety of case styles that should suit any user's preferences in that regard. Most high-quality lighter stores will have several of these models available to their customers. - 39815

A Powerful Synopsis Of The Epic Movie The Lord Of The Rings The Two Towers

By Shelia Beard

If you are looking at the book The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers and are feeling a little overwhelmed by how thick it is, you are not alone. Many people who have read The Hobbit and The Fellowship of The Rings have found that some portions are hard to get through. However, as it links together the first and third books, it is important for you to read since it answers many questions and provides information you need to make the third book, The Return of the King, make sense.

The book itself tends be difficult to get through because of the long portions of landscape description. Because Tolkien wants us to have as clear a picture of the terrain through which the characters are traveling, he tends to include a lot of detail. Everything from vegetation to weather is described and while it helps you develop a strong mental picture of Middle Earth (where the series is set), it can be hard to get through for many people. However, the slower portions tend to be balanced by shorter sections that depict great action such as important battles and sieges.

It is for this reason that the movie version, released in 2002 and directed by Peter Jackson, was excellent. Although there have been some criticisms about some of the plot choices that were made in the movie, on the whole it is an excellent film. Like the first movie, Jackson uses a combination of sets, special effects and make-up in order to recreate key locations such as King Theoden's hall in Rohan.

The two towers mentioned in the title refer to the tower of Saruman, a corrupt wizard who has fallen under Sauron's sway, and the tower of Sauron itself in Mordor. Saruman is busy creating warriors that will be used to crush the remaining forces who are still putting up a fight against Sauron. Saruman is creating fearsome creatures known as Uruk-hai that are stronger, tougher and more brutal than anything that has come before.

The Fellowship was broken at the end of the first movie due to the attempted theft of the Ring from Frodo by Boromir. The movie is split into two different sub-plots. The first is the travels of Frodo and his companion Sam and the second is the travels of the remainder of the Fellowship. The companions are further separated due to events which occur during the book, and this gives us the opportunity to be introduced to many of the different cultures and races in Middle Earth.

In the book, it is difficult to jump back and forth between the different parts of the Fellowship. The movie does this well and also allows us to get to know other important characters as well. It makes it more interesting for the audience to see the bravery of Eowyn of Rohan, the cowardice of Golum and other pivotal characters.

Although there were some criticisms surrounding the way Peter Jackson treated the storyline, for the most part this movie has been praised. There are so many memorable moments (such as the unforgettable Battle of Helm's Deep) that you are set up to go into the third part of the story with a much better understanding of Middle Earth as a whole.

Although The Two Towers is one of the least appreciated of the three books, it is definitely worth reading. It will help explain how things reach the point they do when The Return of The King begins. - 39815

MMA Flashback: Bobby Lashley Destroys Mike Cook At MFC 21

By Ross Everett

Here's a word of advice to future opponents of Bobby Lashley--don't make fun of his background in professional wrestling. Mike Cook found that out the hard way in the co-main event of Maximum Fighting Championships MFC 21: Hard Knocks. After spending the run up to fight week making fun of Lashley's tenure in the WWE, Cook lasted a mere :24 seconds before being choked unconscious via a guillotine choke. The victory ran Lashley's record in his brief MMA career to 3-0.

Perhaps Cook felt he was creating some sort of self doubt in the former WWE superstar by suggesting that he was out of his element in a real fight, but he turned it up a notch at the weigh in and in his ring entrance by donning a Mexican Lucha Libre mask. In prefight interviews, Cook had suggested that Lashley would soil himself once he entered the ring (though in not so erudite terms). That clearly incensed the massive 64 250 pound Lashley, who despite his inexperience in MMA is hardly the sort of individual prone to losing bowel control at the prospect of a fight.

A smirking Cook attempted to tap gloves with Lashley before the fight, but his obviously insulted opponent would have none of it. Even after the opening bell rang, Cooks arrogant approach to the fight continued as he immediately clinched with his opponent as if he had no regard whatsoever for Lashley's strength. Lashley immediately locked in a guillotine choke and basically yanked Cook down to the mat by his head. Cook didnt even get the chance to tap out as veteran referee Big John McCarthy recognized he was out cold and pulled Lashley off of him.

After the fight Lashley gave his opponent a hug and flashed his trademark megawatt smile as if to say I told you so. In his postfight interview, however, he did slip in a final verbal jab toward his vanquished opponent saying that he didn't come to play and that he is all business before quipping that now Cook can go put the mask back on and have fun with himself'.

Despite the fact that mixed martial arts and professional wrestling have been interwoven from the beginning, the American Top Team trained Lashley has been singled out by less knowledgeable fans for his tenure in the WWE. Against his next opponent, Bob Sapp, hell be facing a foe that has also spent some time in the worked environment of professional wrestling. In addition to his legit fighting experience in K-1 and PRIDE, Sapp has worked for several Japanese pro wrestling organizations and briefly held the prestigious IWGP Championship.

Even though Sapps days as a serious fighter are long past and he likely spends less time in the gym during a given year than Lashley does in a month, he does present an element of danger. Hes still got decent punching power, and his sheer bulk will be a challenge for Lashley who could give up as much as 100 pounds come fight night. Still, Sapp's only victories in several years have been against overmatched and/or outsized opponents. Sapp remains a hugely popular personality in Japan, however, and simply by fighting him Lashley's marketability in the lucrative Japanese fight sport market increases significantly. - 39815

Cincinnati Rips Chicago

By Ross Everett

Former Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson got revenge on the team that let him go in the best possible way. Benson amassed 189 yards rushing and led his new team, the Cincinnati Bengals, to a 45-10 rout over the visiting Bears on Sunday. Carson Palmer threw for five touchdowns with no interceptions in the blowout victory.

The Bengals also made short work of the NFL pointspread, easily covering as +1' home underdogs. Cincinnati improved to 4-3 against the number while Chicago evened their ATS mark at 3-3. The 55 combined points sailed OVER the posted total of 42'.

A smug Benson described his feelings after the win:

"Everybody knew it was going to be an emotional day. Everybody knew. What a wonderful day and a wonderful thing, to go out there and strut your stuff."

Despite the evidence to the contrary, Benson downplayed the motive of revenge:

"I continue to be as graceful as I can be. I'm not shoving anything in anybody's face. Like I say, it wasn't a revenge day for me. I just wanted to take advantage of the opportunities."

He said his biggest problem was trying to keep his emotions in check and play under control:

"There were a few times where I may have gotten a little too hyped up, a little too antsy. A couple of drives, I found myself having to calm myself down and gather my emotions to stay poised. Once I got past that, we were good to go. Keep it rolling."

Bengals' receiver Chad Ochocinco had 10 catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns. He shared his thoughts postgame:

"I don't understand why it went this way today and why it didn't go that way last week or the week before that. The offensive line played unbelievable. For Ced to run the way he did today and for us to be able to throw, we could have done what we wanted to do."

Chicago gave up more points than in any game all season, a fact that left defensive end Alex Brown looking for answers:

"That was pretty embarrassing. It's embarrassing to come out and play like that. I tip my hat to their whole team. Cedric ran the ball like crazy. They did whatever they wanted to do."

The Bengals will enjoy a bye week before hosting the Baltimore Ravens on November 8. They'll then play two games on the road at Pittsburgh and Oakland. Chicago will try to get back on track this Sunday as they host the Cleveland Browns. The Bears are -13' home favorites with the total set at 40. They'll host the Arizona Cardinals the following Sunday before heading west for a Thursday night game against the San Francisco 49ers on November 12. - 39815

Important Camping Tips

By Kimberly Jackson

Camping trips provide a good opportunity of experiencing nature and spending time outdoors. Most people who love nature go on them, but we have some family friends who kept telling us how much they hated nature, yet each year they went on several camping trips that lasted for several days.

You might be wondering why, and frankly, so were we. They just shrugged their shoulders when we asked them why they continued going if they hated it so much. We also asked them if we could join them, on special occasions, and see if we can't make it more fun for them. A simple "no" was all we got from them.

They had also bought this big tent, saying it was very important to have a good tent when going camping. I agreed, but when I told them it was fairly large and would probably be difficult to carry, they just laughed at me. I figured they must know what they are doing, with the large number of trips they've gone on.

I was right, and they knew exactly what they are doing, as I discovered by accident. I heard noises in the hallway and decided to check it out, only to see them climbing toward the top of the building, in full camping gear, and with their tent.

Going after them, I found myself on the roof, looking at what seemed to be a camping spot, with a large tent set up, some magazines, and a zune 8 gb digital media player along with some speakers, for ambiance. I let them know I was there, by complimenting their player.

After recovering from their initial shock, they started laughing as hard as they could. It appears this was "their" secret camping place, and a very relaxing one. They were kind enough to let us join them, now, and we do so, at every opportunity. Just be on the lookout for two tents on top of a building. - 39815

Below you will find some information on what to look for when looking for movie download sites.

Always look for those who review these kinds of sites and read the reviews. You should look for those that have at least 4 stars if not 5 star rating. You want a site that people keep going back to. This is always a good sign.

One of the favorite features that most people like is if the site offers the ability to download any movie or music and then burn them so you can view or listen to them at a later date. A nice extra would be if they offered a program that made DVD and CD labels as well.

You also want to be supplied with a great P2P software program that allows you to share movies, games and movies with millions of people from all over the world. It should also provide you with user manuals and have nice layouts and are quite user friendly. It is also important to note that most of the movies they offer for download are of DVD quality.

Make sure the site is easy to use with all the software that is compatible with your computer. Check to see when they release new movies, do they come out later than other sites or do they come out sooner than some of their competition. It is also important that their sign up system does not take forever, signing up should not be a burden. It should be quick and easy so you can get on with using the site.

The site called Express Movie Downloads is a great site withstanding the extremely bright red design of their site. Some people do not like to do one movie at a time because it may take a lot longer than several at a time. Make sure that the programs they offer you for downloading are fast enough to do multiple downloads as well.

If you are looking for super speed try to find a site that offers their members a free accelerator You can achieve extremely high download speeds by simply downloading an accelerator. Another important thing to look for is if they have a good customer service. A Must See Movie: Fight Club

By Kathy Hendrix

If you haven't seen Fight Club yet, well... Welcome to the twenty first century. How was it under that rock where you live? This movie was sort of a cultural event back in the late nineties. It wasn't just a movie, it was The Thing everyone was talking about, and has since had every bit as much of an influence on the modern world cinema as Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas had had some years earlier. It's certainly one of the must download movies of the decade.

The story follows an unnamed narrator portrayed by Ed Norton. There's a lot of "Office Space" type humor as he disparages his corporate white collar job, but there's an ugliness to it here, a darkness not present in Office Space. The movie is very deep and brooding and twisted, while at the same time sarcastic and nonchalant about the whole thing.

The narrator meets Tyler Durden, and the rest is history. Durden is a character who is completely free of the boundaries of society placed on most people. You know Kramer, from Seinfeld? He's kind of like that. Just, imagine how dangerous, frightening, and at the same time, inspiring, Kramer would be if you took him out of the sitcom setting and put him into a world where his actions could result in serious consequences.

Tyler Durden is really the heart of the film in.. Many more ways than one. He and the narrator together found the Fight Club, which begins as simply a place where lonely white collar men can fight so as to reaffirm their manhood, but soon grows into something deeper, more frightening, and which has a much greater impact in the grand scheme of things.

The way it grows is fascinating to watch. You can see that, while some parts of the film are outlandish, the suggestion that this sort of a concept would catch on is probably entirely believable and plausible. It hasn't yet, but the impotent rage hiding in many men still has the potential to become potent. It's frightening to think about, but sooner or later, something's got to give.

The way it ties everything up is fascinating and was, at the time, an incredible and unpredictable plot twist. Since, it's become sort of cliche. This movie and the Sixth Sense both created their own style of "surprise endings", and created trends that would eventually get a little tired but which, at the time, were exciting and interesting.

Norton quickly skyrocketed in fame with this movie, proving that he could take some really exciting projects and make the most of them. Since, his career has had a lot of ups and downs, with a cool, edgy flick one year, and some weak box office bait the next. This is one of his best, though, and the same goes for Brad Pitt.

Love it or hate it, this movie, as shocking, grotesque and violent as it may be, is one of the most influential of the last twenty years, and at the very least, deserves its due respect. - 39815

The Iconic Recognition Of The Invicta Watch Range

By Erin McCarty

The word Invicta is Latin for invincible and the company was set up by Raphael Picard in Switzerland in 1837. They have been around for over a century. Both manual and automated watches were manufactured by Invicta in outstanding designs and great refinement but offered for sale at actually cheap costs. In the early 70's when the quartz revolution hit the watch market, the brand suffered like all of the other Swiss watches did. But the company didn't die and reorganized itself in 1991 with the sole point of making designer watches and making them available to the general public at low rates. It has become one of the fastest growing watch firms in the world.

Invicta watches have exacting standards just like their dear Swiss cousins, but at costs which are inside the standard person's budget. Some of the famous watches are Angel, Pro Diver and first class. These lines have watches that share platforms with many huge Swiss corporations. The Pro Diver is one of the more valued of their range of watches and uncovers it's place in most watch collections.

Even today the Pro Diver range has most sales among the entire Invicta collection.

The Skeletonised movement watch which shows the entire skeleton of the watch has attracted lots of the obsession. Like their dear opposite numbers these watches are made of top of the range materials like anti reflective sapphire crystals and Swiss produced automated as well as manual movements.

The Lupah Swiss timepiece is one of the more recent models. These watches have a fairly varied collection but one thing is usual to all its watches ; they cause you to feel like royalty.

Invicta watches are supplied not only for males and females but also in a range called baby Lupah. These watches have colorful straps and one can buy one watch and a selection of straps to go with it. Such cheap yet trendy ideas are their Forte. Though the watches are lower cost they do require some basic maintenances. There are numerous rules to extend the life of your collection. One must always show the watch to an approved dealer if the watch wishes fixing.

The watch should be kept in a watch box which has cushions to deter it from getting scratched. But most significantly one should consider making an investment in a watch winder in order to cut down on the crown wear so adding years to the watches life. - 39815

Help For The Newbie Photographer

By Stephen Drury

Are you eager on photography? If it sounds like an entrancing past-time or a likely source of money in the future, keep reading. Many folks new to the pursuit are scared about their strategies for achieving quality photographs.

It isn't financially feasible to hire an expert to give some tips, and taking a photography class wants an investment of more time than many people can afford. The most efficient way to enter the area of amateur photographers is to get a good quality camera and hope the publicized wondrous enchanting features actually work as claimed, helping to reach high spec pictures without having any formal training or cognizance of particular photographic secrets.

The reality is that these features truly do work, but they are not enough to promise pro quality stills.

We have all taken pictures of loved ones on vacations, on holiday, and at special events. We've recorded pictures for posterity, for the only point of having a record of a selected person or place at a particular time to fire fond recollections at some specific point in the future.

But many people enjoy looking through the lens and need to use the camera on a more frequent basis.

One frequent mistake of amateur photographers is the omission to guarantee most are in the picture frame. When taking a group image, it's crucial that everybody appears in the final print.

You do not need to find out after the picture is developed that someone on the end is cut in half! A little additional care before snapping the shutter is all that it takes to stop this embarrassment.

Another bugaboo of amateur photographers is gauging the angle of daylight in an outdoors image. This will really affect the standard of the final picture. Shooting straight into the sun may cause dark shading on the picture, while having the sun behind you could have it shining right into your subjects' eyes, leading them to squint.

These are just two pointers to get you moving on your new past-time. The memories you are preserving will literally last a lifetime! - 39815

People Skills In Photography

By Donnell Sloan

Taking great portraits is as much about social skills as it is about technical capacity. If you can first see thru your subject's eyes, and understand them as a unique individual, and then display and accentuate their best qualities, this willreally make your portraits stand out.

Here are a few of the finest tips :

If employing a tripod, compose your portrait and then take one step solely to the side and forward from the camera. Do not look through the viewfinder. When your subject interacts with your camera, the result could be a cold or dead rendering, but when you engage your subject thru eye contact, expression, gestures and words, the result may be a warm and candid reflection, charged with mood or emotion.

If you are not employing a tripod, you should redouble your effort to maintain repeated interactions with your subject.

Permit your subject to be themselves. A young girl dressed up in fairy wings for a special picture is really delightful, and I believe there's a place in this world for charming. However contrast this with the young girl who just likes to dance. You put her in her everyday garments, stand her in front of a plain background, put on her fave music and say to her,'can you show me a way to dance to this song?' you should have no problem in capturing continual expressions there.

Permit your subject's expression to be truthful. A scowl or a scowl that's actually felt can be more fascinating than a smile that is forced. I attempt to never just pose my subject and then say,'Okay, now smile for me.' if you would like your subject to grin then tell a joke, put on a face, or perhaps simply smile at her and she'll smile back at you.

If you are a pro, you know that smiles sell, but if you are a newbie, you are under no pressure to sell, so make your portraits engaging. Not everything in the world is to grin about.

Direct your portraits. Assume control of the composition of your portraits! Don't be afraid to tell or show your subject what you want. Infrequently showing is best. I often find that fundamentally demonstrating a pose I am considering, works better than making an effort to direct my subject through words alone. If you're snapping a group, your life will be more easy, if you prepare and pose the adults first.

Social talents are a prerequisite if you'd like to take great portraits! - 39815
