The story of how Hoquiam WA made its name today bring back history when it was still a dense forest and so rich in natural resources. Many businessmen came to this place and made huge investments by establishing various lumber and logging concessions thereby giving more employment opportunities to the lumberjacks. Saw Mills and shingles had been put up and more lumber and logging camps had been set up. While many businessmen came pouring down to Hoquiam WA, many men seeking for employment came pouring too hence providing better livelihood for the families in Hoquiam.
The brothers Robert and Joseph Lytle were among the lumber magnates who had invested in Hoquiam in 1902 who later on became the world's largest cedar shingle manufacturing company. The following year became more profitable to the investors and the populace when another lumber concession surfaced namely the Grays Harbor Lumber Company and became the supplier of railroad projects of the Northern Railroad Company.
While these events have been their constant issue, several discussions came up as to the possibility for further real estate development to some place in Hoquiam WA that was not taken so much notice. In 1891, the lumber barons came into an agreement to merge their logging business between the Lytle Brothers and the Polson Brothers Logging Company.
