Jamaica: The New Spring Break Destination

By Crystal Powers

Jamaica offers not one but two popular spring break destinations: Negril and Montego Bay.

The choice is yours - the rustic, relaxed atmosphere at the so-called "capital of casual" Negril, or a quicker-paced city experience in Montego Bay. Whatever your choice, you are almost guaranteed a relaxing and laid-back vacation from classes and the stresses of real life. Nothing should spoil this valuable time spent during your spring break, everything should be about the beach, the sun and a whole lot of fun.

There are plenty of spas and resort at the Sunset Beach in Montego Bay that will please even the most discriminating tourist. For those wanting a bit of adventure, you may want to go to the new Pirate's Paradise water park, with its tube slide, body slide and speed slides. Alternatively, simmer in the beachfront giant hot tub, or stroll through the tropical gardens. Visit the resort spa for a relaxing full body treatment, or let loose your adventurous spirit by trying the various water sport activities being offered by the resort.

Jamaica is also the place to be if you want to try out some water and extreme sports during your spring break holiday. One option is the Free Scuba Diving at Falmouth. There's a wall of Falmouth that is a good diving spot, it extends to about 500 kilometers of shore. Chubb Castle, a Falmouth favorite, starts shallow, its top decorated with soft corals and basket sponges and its wall strung with rope sponges and black corals. A chimney, dropping from 35 to 90 feet, leads to even more tunnels and caves. Not only would you relish this really exciting experience, but it would be something to boast about when you get home.

Jet ski, paraglide, windsurf, or just plain surfing, feel free to try out these terrific water sports activities while you're vacationing in Jamaica. You don't have to worry about anything, most hotels have qualified personnel who can teach you the basics, and they also have equipments you can hire so you won't be lacking in gear. Jamaica is the place to be if you want to cut loose for your spring break, have your fill of the sun and surf during the day and the stimulating night time activities after the sun sets. - 39815
