Budget Accommodation - A Range Of Affordable Accommodation To Choose From

By James Brad Lee

Travelling overseas on a shoestring budget often means that you have to find ways to save on potentially costly arrangements such as your accommodation. Settling for a budget accommodation is certainly the way to go to save big on travel costs.

Such cheap accommodation can be found anywhere in the world, including in the downtown areas of major cities which allow you easy access to tourist attractions and business facilities. They also offer a comfortable stay, together with basic amenities to sufficiently meet your accommodation needs.

There are several types of cheap accommodation that are tailored to suit different markets and preferences.

Hostels

Hostels have made great strides over the years, improving their facilities and services to provide their guests, usually backpackers and students, with quality accommodation. Dormitories and shared amenities are still the norm, although private rooms are also increasingly being offered.

Besides their affordability and special ambience, hostels also provide many opportunities for guests from different parts of the world to interact and share their adventures. The locations of these hostels also cater to backpackers and can be found in more secluded areas. The range of amenities at some hostels may even surprise you. You may be able to enjoy Internet connectivity, on-site dining and laundry facilities, amenities which are typically found in more expensive hotels.

Bed and Breakfasts

To enjoy more privacy at still affordable rates, bed and breakfasts, which offer private bedrooms and bathrooms, are a type of cheap accommodation that you should consider.

Since the owners of such accommodation usually oversee its operations themselves, you can expect a more personal style in the decorations of the rooms, as well as greater attention from the owner and staff members, making you feel at home.

As suggested by its name, a bed and breakfast usually has a high quality breakfast included in the room rates, along with other inclusions such as local phone calls and parking.

Budget 3-star hotels

If you can spend slightly more on your accommodation while remaining in the affordable price range, budget three-star hotels are the way to go. You will experience more formal service in these hotels, which also offer more frills than the above-mentioned accommodation types. For example, coloured TV, mini bars, coffee/tea makers and attached bathrooms are commonly included in your room, with room service also available.

Venture out of your room and you will be greeted by a host of amenities such as swimming pools, fitness centres, bars and restaurants. On top of it, you can find budget hotels anywhere, including in the most accessible locations nearby famous tourist sights and business facilities.

Boutique budget hotels

A new class of cheap accommodation which boasts the latest amenities and more stylish dcor has emerged in recent years - boutique budget hotels. These hotel chains follow in the footsteps of more upscale boutique hotels by providing state-of-the-art amenities such as flat-screen TVs and connection points for latest gadgets.

Public spaces are also created for discussion and interaction amongst guests. Younger and tech-savvy business or leisure travelers might want to consider staying in these hotels. - 39815
